Includes digital art tutorials, character design and illustration style development. First 4 weeks exploring stop frame, stop motion and keyframe animation exercises and 4 weeks storyboarding and creating your own animated short content sequence in your preferred style.
Software includes Procreate, Procreate Dreams, Stop Motion Pro, + Adobe Premiere Rush editing.

Starts Thurs 21st August at Submarine Studios, Edinburgh
Welcome to the world of digital art and animation where the creative possibilities are limitless. Technology and software that was once only available to professionals is now accessible and affordable to everyone thanks to the stunning digital art based apps we have at our fingertips that now allow everyone to create and bring our ideas to life.
The first half of this course will feature fun introduction exercises to different animation techniques, including stop frame, stop motion, paper cut out and keyframe animation.
During the second half we will encourage you to develop your own work by storyboarding and creating your own short film sequence in your preferred style.
Features tutorials in Procreate, Procreate Dreams, Stop Motion Studio and Adobe Premiere Rush editing software.

Digital Stop Frame Animation Intro

Cut out animation - Puppets, Collage and Textures
Week 3
Timelines and keyframe animation - Manipulating simple objects
Week 4
Composition, layering tracks and editing
Week 5
Personal Project - Creating a storyboard and animatic for a short scene or sequence.
Week 6
Personal Project - Animation
Week 7
Personal Project - Animation
Week 8
Personal Project - Animation + Edit
The course will be led by Submarine tutors Tom Ellis and Charlotte Pang.
During the classes we will also be showcasing some of our favourite short animated films from prestigious film festivals such as LIAF.
Suitable for all abilities so come along and meet new friends in a fun, relaxed creative environment at Submarine’s beautiful art studios in Edinburgh.
Each group will have its own online gallery page where they can download and share all the digital work they create. Students can also take away digital prints of their work.
